BOOK COVER DESIGN RATIONALE

‘Cold Enough for Snow’ involves a young woman who expresses her seminal experiences and relationships while exploring the sights of Japan with her mother. The abstract approach of the book cover design helps mirror the delicate and calm simplicity of the narrative. The two circles created using blue tissue paper, symbolise the young woman and her mother. As the narrative deeply explores the young woman’s warm yet distant relationship with her mother, the positioning and proximity of the circles further signify her hunger for connection.
